From the surface they can look just like a cyst, but as you see when I dissect it on the tray it is very different! Chondroid syringomas are mixed tumors of the skin which means they have epithelial and mesenchymal elements which are derived from either eccrine or apocrine glands. They grow from a sweat gland and very rarely can be malignant. Typically found on the face but can be in other areas as well. We always send out the specimen to confirm diagnosis.
